Hair extension After care

  • Brushing:
  • Use a boar bristle brush daily to remove any knots or tangles
  • Make sure you are starting at the ends of the hair, holding the top of the weft
  • Brushing the hair before it gets wet will prevent the hair from tangling
  • Make sure to gently brush the top of the weft to remove any natural shed

  • Shampooing/Conditioning
  • Use a sulfate-free, and paraben free shampoo. Curls Gone Wild Salon recommends ColorWow Color Security Shampoo/Conditioner or Redken Acidic Blonding Concentrate Shampoo/Conditioner
  • Do not flip the hair upside down and gently massage the product into the hair using a “Z” formation
  • Apply conditioner from the mid-shaft of the hair down to the ends. Applying conditioner close to the scalp near the top of the row can lead to slipping.

  • Drying/Styling
  • Towel or air dry your hair as much as possible
  • To protect the integrity of your weft(s) we recommend leave in conditioners such as ColorWow Dream Cocktail (Coconut)
  • Heat protectant is a must, we recommend ColorWow Dream Coat to product from heat, reduce moisture and seal the cuticle down for a smooth end result.
  • Oil your wefts daily, we recommend ColorWow Pop & Lock High Gloss Finish or K18 Molecular Repair Oil.
  • Make sure that the top of your weft is thoroughly dried before apply any more heat
  • Your extensions are safe to use with heat products as long as you are using a heat protectant. We recommend to set your tools to 270-450 F degrees

  • Swimming
  • Before swimming, wet your hair with fresh tap water and apply a small amount of leave in conditioner to the ends
  • Tie in a loose ponytail or braid
  • Once finished, rise the extension with fresh water and spray with a leave in conditioner
  • Avoid any use of chemical based sunscreen, use mineral based sunscreens only. Before applying sunscreen, make sure that extension hair is secured away front he face to prevent discoloration of color.

  • Sleeping
  • Do not go to bed with wet hair as it can cause tangling.
  • Brush dry hair gently, oil and place in a loose braid or bun.

  • Coloring
  • Do not attempt to color your hair at home.

  • Maintenance
  • We recommend that you book a “move up” appointment 4 weeks after your first install. Consult with your stylist for a scheduled catered towards you and your extension maintenance.
